The Power of Friendships

She said that she said

She knows what others don’t know

They all lie to one another

As the webs of deceit begin to grow

All out for themselves to protect

     No one comprehending the pain

That each casts upon one another

Ignorant to the fact that there is nothing to gain

The work that was involved

In building these friendships over a season

Has been destroyed in a heartbeat

Through this momentary lapse of reason

Take note of your surroundings

Take inventory of the people you know are fair

For all is never lost in this cruel world

As those friends will always rise up to be there

The ones that care

Will assist you through these rough times

The ones that hold ill will

Will surely suffer as your strength climbs

When we live and learn from our experiences

When we use our power to make amends

The enemies we must leave behind us

Can never outweigh the bond of such friends

So remember when all is said and done

And the difficulty of relationships is no longer under attack

It will be because you chose wisely

To hold onto the friends that will always have your back

Introduction to The Power of Friendships

By the end of my 2nd year at college I had developed some pretty good relationships. The one thing I have always believed is that you can never have too many friends but you do need to be careful, as many friends are not in the friendship for the right reasons. Looking back on my life I have lost a few friends that I thought were lifetime friends but I was always quick to pick up on why they were not worth remaining in my life. I am proud to say that I have 3 “best” friends and I cherish their ability to have my back whenever I do need them, as I know I would be there for them whenever they would call. The next poem gives you an abstract point of view of how to choose properly when it comes to the lifetime friend(s) we all hope to attract.
